Bone Geography

by Davide Terrile

Granite formations, sculpted by atmospheric agents, dominate the landscape under direct light. Their curved and polished surfaces suggest a mineral anatomy, while the only straight line, an airplane contrail, crosses the sky.

The harsh, almost zenithal light sculpts the rock volumes, creating deep shadows that accentuate their three-dimensionality. The choice of a telephoto focal length (70mm) compresses the planes, treating the geological masses almost as a single sculptural body.
