Books on the Staircase

A stone descent, almost a tunnel through time. On the landing, a stack of books waits, an unexplained trace of a pause or an abandonment. Knowledge rests in the shadows, like a secret guarded by the walls.
The very high ISO sensitivity (12800), set to capture the scene in low light conditions, produces a noticeable grain that enhances the materiality of the stone. The dizzying perspective, accentuated by the wide-angle focal length (17mm), guides the gaze along the vanishing lines towards the accumulation of books, the narrative heart of the image.
