Urban Intersections
by Davide Terrile
The city is a concrete organism, a circulatory system that pulses invisibly from above. Cars flow like elements of a mechanical current, small human presences absorbed by the monumental scale of the infrastructure. What remains is the design of the roads, a scar on the earth's skin.
The medium aperture (f/4.5) keeps the various planes of the urban landscape in focus, from the ramp in the foreground to the skyscrapers in the background, describing the scene with documentary precision. The use of a fast shutter speed (1/200s), made possible by a moderately high ISO, freezes the movement of traffic, transforming it into a static element of the composition.
