The Curve of the Pier

The curved line of a promenade separates the sand from the pavement, guiding the eye toward a small harbor and a few figures. Above the scene, a sky heavy with dense clouds looms over the landscape, introducing a potential tension between the natural and built elements.
The composition is dominated by the leading line of the parapet cutting diagonally across the image. The small aperture (f/11) ensures a deep depth of field, making all planes of the photograph sharp, from the pier in the foreground to the boat masts in the background.
