The Instrument
by Davide Terrile·Support
A figure is shielded by panoramic binoculars hiding their face. The device, designed to bring the landscape closer, transforms into a metallic mask reflecting the photographer's lens. The gaze towards the city in the background is interrupted, redirected onto a play of surfaces and reflections that questions the very act of seeing.
The composition is frontal and symmetrical, centered on the metallic mass of the binoculars. The use of a medium aperture (f/8) ensures the sharpness of the instrument in the foreground, including the camera's reflection, while the urban background is left out of focus, separating the visual planes.
