On the deck of a boat, two figures share the space without interacting. One is lying along the bench in a posture of rest. The other, seated, observes the coastal landscape receding or approaching. The composition opposes the horizontal line of the reclining body to the vertical line of the seated figure, introducing a quiet tension into the shared space of the crossing.
The choice of a closed aperture (f/8) and a standard focal length keeps both the foreground subjects and the harbor in the background in focus. Direct sunlight creates strong contrast and shapes the white surfaces of the boat, whose geometric lines structure the composition.
