The texture of the sand in the foreground, rippled by the wind, leads the eye towards the dunes in the background. Their shapes overlap, defined by sharp lines and the contrast between light and shadow that reduces them to almost geometric elements.
The use of a medium-telephoto focal length (60mm on APS-C) and a narrow aperture (f/10) compresses the perspective, connecting the foreground texture with the distant ridges. The composition layers the landscape, isolating the dark shapes of the dunes between the sand and the uniform sky.
