Urban Layers on Facade

A United States Postal Service van occupies part of the foreground, its white and solid bulk partially overlapping an urban facade. Behind it, pizzeria and lounge signs mix with the metallic tangle of a fire escape, creating a stratification of contrasting lines, surfaces, and messages.
The vertical frame compresses multiple visual planes into a confined space: the vehicle, the signs, the facade, and the fire escape. This compositional choice and the use of a standard 50mm lens accentuate the saturation of geometries, from the diagonals of the fire escape to the window grids, generating a strong visual density.
